A Lesson In Common Core Math

A teacher decided she would tutor three underachieving young boys in math after school. In order to determine how far behind the boys were on the first day of tutoring, she asked them to solve three times three.

When she asked one boy for the answer, he said, "One hundred fifty-six."

The teacher rolled her eyes thinking, "Wow, do I have my work cut out for me!!!"

The second boy said, "Tuesday."

"What?!?!?!" she thought. "Good grief. This is worse than I thought."

The third boy finally gave her the correct answer of nine.

"Correct!!! Now how did you come to that answer?" she asked him.

"It was simple," he replied happily. "I just subtracted Tuesday from one hundred fifty-six."

And that, ladies and gents, concludes today's lesson in Common Core math.

P.S. You can visit the teacher in Lakewood Home for the Criminally Insane. Don't expect a real conversation, however, as she only recites "One hundred fifty-six minus Tuesday equals nine." every waking moment. It's not pretty. ~ Hunter
