What's Wrong With America: Multiculturalism Over Assimilation

Last year, I wrote about multiculturalism after bringing you a short speech that should be given on the first day of every school year in every school across America. It's well worth the read and I stand by what I said then, as well as what I'm about to say.

Multiculturalism will be the death of this country, but let's get one thing straight - multiculturalism is not the same thing as a "melting pot." In fact, they're diametrically opposed.

The United States was once known as "The Great Melting Pot" because everyone from everywhere wanted to come here and become an American, meaning they assimilated into American culture, learned American English, and followed American laws and traditions. They became - and here's the important part - just as American as someone whose family had been here for generations.

Today, most people who immigrate here, whether legal or not, don't assimilate - preferring to keep with their own culture, speak their own language - essentially bringing their culture to America intact and refusing to become American except in name only.

Anyone remember learning about the fall of Rome in history class?

Yeah.... It's like that... ~ Hunter
